Jeff Young has honoured John Canning Yates by including lyrics from ‘Ghost Light’ as the epigraph for his new book

It’s an honour to say that after attending the album launch of The Quiet Portraits earlier this year, Liverpool author Jeff Young was so moved by the final song in John’s set, Ghost Light that he has been kind enough to include an extract from the lyrics as the epigraph of his brilliant new book, Wild Twin, published this month on Little Toller Books.

Ghost Light is an as-yet-unreleased track that John wrote with his sister about the vivid memories their Dad has of dancing with Mum in the dancehalls of his native Northern Ireland before moving to England, where John and Angela were born.

Acclaimed author Young allows intricate details of the past to illuminate the present and the future in the same manner JCY has sought to capture through the words and lilting melody of Ghost Light.
