John Canning Yates releases a version of Elliott Smith’s beautiful track ‘Twilight’ as the first of his new series, The Quiet Covers.
“A late night version of ‘Twilight’ by Elliot Smith. The first in a possibly (ir)regular series of late night covers. There’s been a few mentions of Elliot Smith recently when people have talked about my album, ‘The Quiet Portraits’, so playing this seems like a natural place to start. I felt a real affinity with Elliot Smith’s music when I started to write songs all those years ago. I was lucky enough to see him play live in 2000, on his last visit to the UK. Such a tragic end to his life. He left us some beautiful music.”
